Your
hosts Brion and Jane Bailey at Chinook Lodge invite you to
enjoy Chinook Salmon fishing and Halibut fishing in the Queen Charlotte Islands. The islands, known by the aboriginal
name of Haida Gwaii, are located in British Columbia and are
home of world-renowned fishing lodges and situated south of
Alaska in Hectate Strait and Dixon Entrance. In addition to
world class fishing, we invite you to enjoy the beaches, hiking,
whale watching, bird watching, kayaking and the heritage and
art of the Haida Nation. World class fishing and eco-tourism
abounds in what is being called "Canada's Galapagos".
Your accommodations at Chinook Lodge are located in the small
fishing village of Masset. They include five townhouses and
your hosts will have you just as comfortable as if you had
never left home - everything is right here, including a full
stand-alone kitchen, freezers and full laundry facilities.
And WE ARE THE ONLY ISLAND ACCOMMODATION OFFERING PRIVATE
MOORAGE WITH LODGING!!
Private
Moorage
You're
in Chinook Country! ©
Imagine your own private moorage surrounded by the likes of
the West Coast Fishing Club and Queen Charlotte Lodge (who
also share space in the 40-berth private marina). Each of
our two berths is 3 meters wide and 10 meters long. As a guest
of Chinook Lodge you pay $200 dollars per week for private
moorage in high season. (Compare this to the big fishing lodges
who charge $3K to $4K per person for a 3 to 4 day turnaround
cycle.) Accommodation at Chinook Lodge costs only a couple
of hundred dollars per day for up to four guests for similar
or BETTER ACCOMMODATION with more amenities! Our properties
include all the conveniences of a fully stocked home. Sound
good
well, it even gets better.
You don’t need to drag your boat in and out on a trailer at
the end of each day’s fishing, and a private fuel contractor
will refuel your boat while it is in the berth. That leaves
ALL YOUR TIME AVAILABLE FOR FISHING and enjoying the company
of your fishing buddies. Good fishing and good friends in
what is arguably the best fishing location in North America!
If you are from Alberta, simply drive to Prince Rupert and
take your boat over to Masset in a short two hour excursion.
Or you can take your boat on BC Ferries from Prince Rupert
to the Queen Charlotte Islands. Visiting friends have the
option to park their vehicle in Prince Rupert and take a memorable
one hour flight on a float plane over to Masset.
Book
EARLY to ensure a spot!! We are proud to have almost 100%
repeat business from previous seasons.
Lodging/Eco-Tourism and Fishing Charters
What brings our guests back is beachcombing along miles
of sandy beaches in Naikoon Provincial Park (without fighting
crowds of tourists) and crabbing for Dungeness crabs with
chest waders and dip nets thoughtfully supplied in each of
our properties.
A typical stay is four nights or longer with an (optional)
one day of fishing for our eco-tourist clients. Our website
provides great information including useful links. Ask about
our off-season rates to put a smile on your face!
