Welcome to Michael & Young Fly Shop, serving the needs of the west coast fly fisher for over 20 years with 2 shops in the greater Vancouver area, one in Surrey and one in Vancouver, British Columbia. Both stores are stocked with the largest selection of quality fly tackle imaginable, arguably one of the largest selections in North America. From the affordable to the opulent, we stock it all with all the major name brands such as Simms, Sage, Winston, Ross, Scott, Fishpond, Abel, Bauer, Rio, Mastery, Tibor, Islander, Loomis, Loop, Airflo and the list goes on and on.

At Michael & Young Fly shop, we have a philosophy that the fly fisher comes first. We are not a destination t-shirt and nick knack vendor but instead we try to appeal to the fly angler. All of our staff are experienced, well versed and respected fly anglers -- smitten by the art, science and romance of a well presented fly pattern. We are not a shop that has a fly fishing section, we are a specialty fly shop and all we sell is fly fishing related goods. We also offer a comprehensive selection of fly fishing related courses, from fly tying, beginner fly fishing and entomology, rod building and fly casting instruction for both single and double hand rods.

At Michael and Young, we have been meeting the fly fishing needs of men and women not only in BC and the Pacific Northwest … but from all around the world … for over 20 years now. Two decades of fly-fishing experiences have given us the insight and know how to help you with any issues or concerns that you might have. The highly experienced and knowledgeable staff at our Surry and Vancouver stores are ready to answer all questions you might have including… Stillwater techniques for the BC interior … targeting anadromous species in the saltwater and freshwater … Spey casting for steelhead … or sight casting on the flats in the Caribbean.

At Michael & Young we are dedicated to assisting you in any way possible. All we want is happy customers --- and that's why our goal is to improve your fly-fishing enjoyment. To that end we also offer guide services.

Owned and operated in southwestern British Columbia, our expertise comes from the fact that we live here and fish here. These are our waters … and we know their fish. Most of the local day guiding is done within two hours drive from Vancouver. This makes for an interesting parody; wild beautiful scenery in the day, coupled with all the comforts and sights of the city in the evening.

Michael & Young is a business run by avid fly-fishermen, and we get to spend a lot of time each year pursuing all kinds of fishing opportunities. In our travels we have been blessed to make acquaintances with some of the best guides and lodges in British Columbia and around the world. From salt-water fly-fishing for salmon, to dry fly-fishing for steelhead, to the pursuit of a grand slam on the tropical flats - whatever your idea of the perfect fly fishing adventure may be, we can help arrange it with you, and provide with the essential gear and advice to ensure success.
