Location: This almost round lake, with park and walk access, and possible large catches, is often overlooked by fishermen. Two prime fishery sources, the Harrison River and the Weaver Creek Fish Hatchery are connected by this lake. Located down in a valley, Morris Lake must be accessed through private property. The owners of the property welcome fishermen who will treat the property with respect. Turn north off Hwy. #7 at the community of Harrison Mills. By travelling north on the Morris Valley Road past the Weaver Creek Salmon Hatchery for approximately 12 km. (7.4 mi.) will bring you to the end of the access, from which you can park and walk to the lake. Size 8 ha. (20 ac.) Shoal 6 ha. (14.8 ac.) Mean Depth 4 m. (13.2 ft.) Max. Depth 7 m. (22.9 ft.) Ice Over Varies with Climate Conditions T.D.S. 40 mg/L Resorts & Campsites: There is no direct access or campsite at Morris Lake. The lake also offers great opportunities for quiet canoeing and nature observation as you can paddle not only around the lake but up the channel to the Harrison River. BCFS campsites are located at a number of nearby lakes. Fishing Report: Although not very numerous, the Cutthroat can reach up to 3 lbs. or better. Quota is two and you have to throw them back if under 30 cm. (12 in.). For casting from shore, the rock bluff on the northeast shore offers the best opportunity. Be sure to visit Fishbc.com for angling information! Viewscape: Large rock bluffs are evident in the north, while the southern landscape is open to the Harrison River. Steep hills in the distance are blanketed with Douglas fir, hemlock and cedar while the lower areas around the lake and creek mouths are covered with willow. Shoreline: Swampy areas are in evidence along the western and southeastern shores. The north and south shores consist of steep rocky outcrops.
