Alta Lake

Location: Alta Lake can be easily accessed from the city of Vancouver, BC, by travelling 120 km. (72 mi.) north on Hwy. #99. This mile long lake is located right at the popular British Columbia resort community of Whistler; it is also about 32 km. (20 mi.) south of the community of Pemberton. BC. This world class recreation area is extremely popular year round. Summer offers wonderful opportunities for fishers, hikers, mountain bikers and sight seers with winter drawing ski and photography enthusiasts from around the world.

Resorts & Campsites: There are a great number and variety of accommodations near Alta Lake; from deluxe hotels and resorts to campsites. The village of Whistler can provide all services, facilities and accommodations as can Pemberton, 32 km. (20 mi.) north.

Fishing Report: Rainbow trout is the primary game fish at Alta Lake averaging just under 1 lb. There is a speed restriction in effect for power boats.

Viewscape: Scenic Alta Lake is located amidst towering, forested mountains on all sides. There are numerous permanent residences as well as accommodation facilities visible from the lake.

Shoreline: There are a number of shallow, sheltered bays located around the lake. Large amounts of aquatic vegetation is evident in the shallow areas.

Nearby Lakes

Alpha Lake - Alpha Lake is a small lake of 15 ha. (37 ac.), located approximately 2 km. (1.2 mi.) south of Alta Lake. It supports a mixed fishery of Rainbow, Dolly Varden and Kokanee.

Nita Lake - Nita Lake, another small lake of 11 ha. (27.2 ac.), located between Alpha and Alta on Hwy. #99, offers small Rainbows and Kokanee.
